A not-for-profit organisation can very legally pay it's employees. And most do. Also, company income is not 'profit' per se. The 'profit' is when the excess money is then paid out or distributed to shareholders (share price increases and dividends etc). A company which did broke absolute even every year would not grow and would remain as in/effective as when it began.
I don't know what they're all about and I don't what they do but it is by the books. The lyrics seemed to be more about the kids who synthesize their own emotional problems and then latch onto twloha (and join it's shirt crew). I agree that there are bigger problems in the world and that flood victims or starving families would definitely appreciate the money more but millions are also being poured into these causes. Every charity/non-profit/ngo/whatever is doing their part for where they think they can best make the world a better place.
Western society is just as fucked up as eastern... in different ways. And if a bunch of people are organised enough to generate 400k to put towards causes I support then I applaud them. It's more than I can do on my own. If that requires they put aside another 400k so they can do even more the next year then I'm just as impressed.
I'm not saying I know the intentions of their hearts or what they will be doing with that money but a lot of not-for-profits put aside money for when the fates don't smile so wide or when what they do needs a shot in the arm.
I guess my point is that they are doing some good in the world. Maybe it's not as much as they could but it is some good nonetheless.
I can see that there are flaws in the system, that many young people just use the shirts to placate their social consciences but the organisation does not exist without some merit. I just think there are a lot of other much more evil organisations we could criticise on our blogs that nobody really reads.
